Notes from 11/2 Meeting

Here are some of the highlights from the meeting which 16 attended:
·         Chris Gohrband gave an update on the Boy Scout Troop we sponsor.   The boys in this troop are getting older and in fact two are now in college.  Chris’s major problem is getting new boys into the troop.
·         Upcoming Events:
o   November 16:  Club Meeting and Committee Meetings afterward.
o   November 30:  Eyeglass Recycling
o   December 2-4:  Citrus Sale Deliveries
o   December 7:  Last Club Meeting of 2011
o   December 14:  Holiday Party.  I will be sending out an invitation shortly.  Please RSVP as soon as you can.
·         Jim Ryan gave an update on the Citrus Sales.  EVERYONE NEEDS TO DISTRIBUTE THE FLYER AND ENCOURAGE FRIENDS TO ORDER.  The deliveries will be, as before, at Northgate Shopping Center on December 2, 3, and 4.  Jim will be looking for a lot of volunteers that weekend so please make yourselves available.
·         The Fall Conference was a success, especially the Networking Event Anne organized, which was attended by 14 potential new members.  Anne plans to do a similar event in Herndon in February
·         Jim reported on the Leo Club status.  The High School turned the club down as previously reported, but the kids are proceeding as a community club.  I’ve contacted the Cluster Administrator who promised to find out how and why the decision was made, but the wheels of progress turn quite slowly within the FCPS.  I will continue following up with her.  THE LEO CLUB’S FIRST MEETING IS THIS FRIDAY AT 5 PM AT THE NEIGHBORHOOD RESOURCE CENTER ON ELDEN STREET (THE BLOOM PLAZA).  PLEASE ATTEND IF YOU CAN.
·         Larry reported excellent progress on the Peace Poster contest.  The art department has adopted this as a project and each student will be doing a Peace Poster.
